    Maison Margiela’s packaging is founded in the core philosophies of the House. The optical white handles of carrier bags appear frayed to evoke the trace of time as an evolution of the house’s original anonymous fabric totes.

From sandals and slingbacks to slides, ballerinas and espadrilles, Maison Margiela invigorates the archetypes of shoe-making with its own signature codes. The luxury flats span the tropes of cobblery – leather brogues, derbies, loafers, lace-ups, mules, moccasins, monk-straps, Oxfords – and fuse them with the signifiers of the house: the Tabi split-toe, the white overpainted bianchetto effect, or the four white stitches.
