Technique & Craft:
The Making of Loved to Death

The Loved to Death collection celebrates garments cherished, crinkled and faded, embracing the intimacy of restoration. Pieces routinely ironed, mended, and handed down through time, preserved through care and transformation. Developed in the Maison’s Artisanal atelier, each technique reframes imperfections as artistry.

Washed Leather
5AC
The collection debuts a new incarnation of a Maison Margiela icon: the 5AC Loved to Death bag. Re-constructed as a soft, tactile silhouette without lining.
Pressed with Memory
Using intense heat and pressure, combined with hand painting, the fabric is transformed, creating bold lines and a shine that redefine its texture.
‘Memory of’ Creases

Manually hot-pressed to form intentional fixed creases that feel naturally worn-in, resulting in silhouettes that appear instinctive, and deeply personal.

Retrograding
A technique that embodies variations of thread work, in a gradation that occurs when an image is imitated or the linear base drawing of a painting that has not yet been finished.

New silhouettes come to life through illusion and construction.
