5AC HACKING

The 5AC, the signature handbag of Maison Margiela, is continuously interpreted by the house in a variety of styles. In an homage to the concept, from October 3rd to 17th, Maison Margiela's Omotesando store presents the 5AC Hacking Project, featuring unique reinterpretations of the iconic 5AC handbag by Japanese artists Nerhol, Shoko Otake, BIEN, and NUNO | we+. Named after the Hacking technique applied in the Maison’s Co-Ed S/S 2024 collection, each artist reconceives the bag through their own eyes, infused with the Maison’s “Informal Formality” and celebrating a departure from convention. The 5AC is the house’s modern classic. Its moniker is derived from ‘133t speak’, an early tech language that encodes the word ‘SAC’ – French for bag – into ‘5AC’. The creations showcase the 5AC as a modern classic transformed into a piece of art.
