This dress embodies Maison Margiela’s philosophy of transformation, ritual, and reverse construction. A wool shirt top meets a draped skirt with the lining worn outward, reversing conventional layers. Washed textures create visual dialogue while a side zip opens to release a front drape, echoing the act of dressing. Work-in-progress stitching at the chest pocket and visible basting threads reflect the Maison’s use of Décortiqué elements to reveal the garment’s inner story. Maison Margiela’s signature, the four stitches, appear at the back; the opposite of a label.
