Maison Margiela invigorates the archetypes of shoe-making with its own signature codes. The luxury flats span the tropes of cobblery – leather brogues, derbies, loafers, lace-ups, mules, moccasins, monk-straps, Oxfords – and fuse them with the signifiers of the house: the Tabi split-toe, the white overpainted bianchetto effect, or the four white stitches.
